Volunteering in Kenya - Gap Year

Specifics:

  • Length : 2 to 8 weeks

The East African country of Kenya is full of gorgeous plains landscapes and is the birthplace of the safari. It is also home to problems such as AIDS, illiteracy, and poverty. As a volunteer in Kenya with TravelWorks, you will have the chance to volunteer in the field of education or health care as well as in social projects, doing your part to assist the citizens of this beautiful yet troubled land.

Before you depart for Kenya, you will decide whether you would like the focus of your volunteer work to be on education or health. You will then work 4 days a week in your area of focus and do some additional social volunteering.

  • Emergency care
  • Child and adolescent healthcare

Gap Year in Kenya – Social Projects

Aside from your health or education volunteering in Kenya, you will also work in social projects. For example, you could care for orphans in the town of Limuru about 50 km north of Nairobi, or help women there to improve their outlook on life, as many suffer from AIDS, abuse or other problems. However you contribute your time in Kenya, you are sure to make a meaningful difference in the life of someone who can really use your help.

You will stay in a shared volunteer house with full board. Volunteers also take part in a 2-day orientation at the beginning of the programme.
